New Variable Salik Toll Rates From January 31, 2025

Dubai is stepping into a new era of smarter and more efficient traffic management! Starting January 31, 2025, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will implement new Salik variable pricing, aiming to ease congestion on busy roads while offering fair toll rates based on traffic demand.

Here’s what you need to know:

The new pricing system introduces dynamic toll rates depending on the time of day and road usage patterns.

  • Peak Hours (6 AM – 10 AM & 4 PM – 8 PM): AED 6
  • Off-Peak Hours (10 AM – 4 PM & 8 PM – 1 AM): AED 4
  • No Charges: Between 1 AM and 6 AM
  • Toll remains AED 4 throughout the day (excluding public holidays or major events).
  • Peak Hours (9 AM – 5 PM): AED 6
  • Off-Peak Hours (7 AM – 9 AM & 5 PM – 2 AM): AED 4
  • Toll-Free Period: 2 AM – 7 AM
  • Encourages Off-Peak Travel: Reduces congestion during peak hours.
  • Environmental Benefits: Lower emissions from smoother traffic flow.
  • Better Traffic Management: Aligns road usage with demand for balanced flow.

Here’s what the drivers should consider.

  • Regular peak-hour commuters may face higher toll expenses.
  • Drivers will need to adapt to the new pricing system and plan routes accordingly.
  • Initial implementation may cause confusion for users unfamiliar with variable rates.

Here is what you need to know.

Public parking near major event venues like the Dubai World Trade Centre will cost AED 25/hour starting February 2025.

  • 2024: Net profit of AED 822 million (up from AED 802.7 million in 2023).
  • Revenue growth of 24–25% projected for 2025.
  • Two new toll gates added in November 2024 at Business Bay Crossing (Al Khail Road) and Al Safa South (Sheikh Zayed Road).

The introduction of variable Salik pricing is a step toward smart mobility solutions. By incentivizing off-peak travel, Dubai aims to reduce congestion, improve commute times, and create a more sustainable transportation system.
